Hebrews 11:8 says, “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” He obeyed!
Abraham was living in a comfortable land with his friends and family until God calls him and tells him to pack everything up and move. Abraham does not have any worries—he is living his life according to what he thinks is right until God calls him elsewhere. And all Abraham does is answer, “Yes!” He does not ask questions like, “Where to?” or “For how long?” He doesn’t even ask, “Why?” His response is an answer of pure submission.
Think about your life right now. Most of us are living comfortably in our homes and cities with our families and really don’t have any worries. What if God asked you to move? What if God called you somewhere else? What would your answer be?
For most of us, our answer is something like this: “Yes, God! (Pause) As long as…” or “God, yes I will go! (Pause) I am going to have the same luxuries right?” That is not total surrender! Most of us would want a pamphlet or a training session beforehand, but the bottom line is that our answer is to be a reckless “yes”; where we put our faith in God and trust him to lead us!
An 8th grader was very honest last night when he stated, that most of us [those living in Dallas] would have a problem moving 15 minutes to the west in Grand Prairie…and we can see that and know about it! Wow!
Abraham was moving into the unknown—a barren desert that he had no idea what it would be about, but his answer was, “Yes!” My challenge for you is what is your thought process when God calls you? What hinders you? Take time some time to ask God to increase your faith and let your answer be “yes.”
